Music
Music: Statement of intent
At Burhill, children learn that music is a universal language in which everyone can learn. Music lessons will engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and develop their talent as musicians, through listening, singing, playing, evaluating and composing.
The music curriculum is designed to empower children and their well-being so that they become responsible for their own learning. Music lessons at Burhill enable children to increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement to become confident when performing as individuals and as part of an ensemble.
We use Charanga, a clear and comprehensive online scheme of work to support our music teaching, which covers all the National Curriculum requirements in a full and progressive way. We strive on promoting a variety of musical activities to pupils and ensure we give all children the opportunity to take part in performances, lessons and concerts. The opportunities include performing in assemblies, church services and within our local community.
Burhill Primary School is delighted to have achieved the Artsmark Silver Award for 2020. We are thrilled to be recognised as a school championing the Arts and are committed to enabling every child to explore as many areas or the Arts as possible. For further information, please click here.
