At Burhill, physical activity is an important part of our overall approach to children's well-being; we believe passionately in the principle of 'healthy body, healthy mind' and have an inclusive approach which aims to develop a love of physical activity and sport.
Children have regular PE lessons covering all aspects of the curriculum, including games, dance, gymnastics, athletics, outdoor & adventurous activities, and swimming. There is also an extensive extra-curricular programme, with opportunities for children to take part in a range of sports including football, rugby, tennis, multisport, athletics, running, hockey, lacrosse, triathlon, netball, golf and cricket.
We are active members of the Elmbridge & Runnymede Primary Schools Sports Association and have good links with a number of clubs including Esher Rugby Club and Walton and Hersham Youth FC.
Children are encouraged to develop a love of sport and a healthy attitude to competition, learning how to be good winners and good losers. As we have grown into a primary school with KS2, in recent years we have increased opportunities for children to take part in competitions with other schools. Children now have regular opportunities to compete against other schools in leagues and tournaments.
